Peace and quiet.
Located on Dartmoor, right at the centre of the 'High Moor',
you can find few places more peaceful and quiet than here.
You have immediate access to the open moor which surrounds you.
To give an idea of this open environment; if you set out north from here, you will cross nothing but open moorland for almost 15 miles before reaching Okehampton.
Comfort and relaxation.
The building has stood for over 200 years, originally built as a farmhouse,
now converted to centrally heated comfortable accommodation.
A relaxed snug bar offers beamed ceilings and slate floor from Dartmoor prison, as well as comfy sofas and a warm friendly atmosphere. Many of our regular visitors look upon us as a ‘bolt hole’ to escape from the pressures of the modern world.
Excellent food.
To offer you further enjoyment, our menu is changed every day.
A choice of appetiser, including one of our home made soups - these are prepared from fresh produce, just like everything else we serve. You may choose from at least two meat and one fish dishes for your main course; a vegetarian option is available if you let us know what you prefer. Puddings are also home made - the steamed puddings really are steamed. Just like everything else we offer, we know it takes longer!
